Fantastic Contraption official site is returning as a room-scale VR game built for Valve and HTC's Vive headset. The original game was a 2D browser-based puzzle game about creating a device to carry a ball towards a goal, but creator Colin Northway is now re-building it as a virtual reality experience in which you build similar devices in 3D. Fantastic Contraption: Fantastic Contraption is a physics puzzle game in which the objective in each level is to move all red objects into a rectangular goal area. To do this, you are given a blue rectangular building area and a few different materials in which you can build your device. Standing in your way, however, are a variety of obstacles, ranging from gaping gaps to a sea of circles.

I press the play button on my controller and, instead of climbing a wall like I want to get to a goal at the top, my contraption is flopping around on the ground. The HTC Vive is heavy on my cheeks. I’d failed at a few earlier puzzles and so I jumped into this one and got hooked.
